There was a successful heart surgery on a seven month old baby, the youngest ever
cardiac patient ever operated in any public health facility in Nigeria.
The surgery was performed with experts from UCH Ibadan, America, Canada and India(hmm,we hope the Nigerian Doctors were not reduced to just 'assiting' #raised eyebrows). The girl Enriola who weighed 3.8kg could not achieve normal growth due to the hole in her heart. Her mother Olubunmi Fakoya said she was diagnosed at three months old .
Head of Cardiology, Dr.Kamar Adeleke
(Head, Tri-State Cardiovascular Institute, Delaware, USA), revealed
that it was a delicate surgery as Enriola had emaciated so much, her
chances were very slim, but two hours after the surgery, the happy mother shared with Channels TV the positive changes and improvement!
p.s we thought they were on NMA strike..? ThankGod for saving the little girl's life.
