what is Africa doing?... EBOLA

There's this Ibo saying that ,when people pee together,it'll foam.
so were are going to see the recent updates on what has been up lately concerning this.  Guess the foam in this case would mean the effect of the magnitude of issues that has been raised concerning the deadly virus, both hopeful, annoying and otherwise...

WHO declares EBOLA outbreak in West Africa an International Public health emergency

Recently WHI declared it a public health emergency. yes we are pleased they are taking it seriously but please would statement save lives? According to Dr. Barth (of doctors without borders) ,"we need this statement to translate into immediate action on ground". well we guess the reverse is the case, since death toll is still on the rise.

Questions about this EBOLA drug
Its no news that the experimental drug ZMAPP has yielded tremendous improvement on the American missionary doctors, Drs. Brantley and Writebol who were infected with the virus and are currently receiving treatment in Atlanta.  Important questions that have been raised by the world ,especially Africans are ;
- who makes the drug?
- are there other experimental drugs out there?
-how does it work
-why did American missionary doctors get the drug? ...(exactly our thoughts!only when they were infected did the drug come into existence)
- Does the company have more of the drug?
well according to CNN ,WHO claimed they were not aware of such experimental drugs till it was tested on the patients.

Dear Naija, develop your own ZMAPP abeg
Embarrassingly( or so we think), there has been some twitter campaigns like #giveAfricaZMAPP #Givethemexperimentaldrug and so on.Zmapp serum samples were obtained from a certain African kid who developed antibodies that defeated his Ebola infection. Zmapp antibodies are an African copyright property.  Necessity is the mother of invention, rather than begging for assistance here and there and it obviously not forth coming, why not get to work ourselves, YES WE CAN!
Its not as if we Nigerians/Africans cant ask for assistance but please no offence begging is not our birth right for crying out loud! Its obvious the Americans are not ready to share the drug, oweing to their 'drug policies'(they wont help us till after 2yrs). Africans should take this as a challenge and put our brains to work. we depend on the westerners for EVERYTHING,and that would take us no where.meanwhile,

9 year old sierra leonan boy who survived
Found this from a reliable source and decided to share

Vandy Jawad 7, is a reminder of hope and survival in an otherwise deeply tragic situation.
He was in the treatment centre at Kenema for more than one month after contracting the virus in Daru village about 40 km out of Kenema town, and one of the worst affected communities in Sierra Leone.
According to nurses, he displayed some very serious symptoms when first admitted, “That small boy was very, very sick. We did not think he would survive as so many haven’t,” said Sister Nancy Yoko, the nurse in charge of the Ebola Treatment Centre in Kenema.
Vandy started showing signs of recovery a couple of weeks ago slowly gathering his strength. When he finally achieved a negative test result, which revealed there was no more Ebola virus in his system, it was time for him to go home.
“Little Vandy provided laughter at the most unlikely moments inside that ward, I’m so happy for his recovery, “ a British volunteer nurse who treated him inside the centre told UNICEF.

Is Nigeria doing enough? From what we can see,are they taking enough measures? are you doing enough personally?
Have a swell time, thanks for reading.
